The whole game in one page

How to play
Bloom.

One bloom every evening at 20:00 UTC. Everyone enters the same world. Last blob alive wins that evening's championship. Tomorrow you do it again.

The basics

Three things to remember.

01

Eat to grow.

Pellets give a tiny bit of mass. Other blobs give a lot. You can eat anyone meaningfully smaller than you (~1.25× the rule of thumb). Bigger = harder to escape from, but slower to chase.

02

Don't get eaten.

Bigger blobs eat you the same way you eat the small ones. When you die you can keep watching, or come back tomorrow. There's exactly one bloom per day — make it count.

03

Survive the squeeze.

The red safe zone shrinks throughout the bloom. Outside it, you bleed mass per second. At the centre lurks a black hole that pulls you in if you wander too close.

Controls

Mouse, keyboard, touch.

Same game, three input modes. Pick whichever device you're holding when the bloom starts.

Desktop
  • Move mouseYour blob aims toward the cursor. Closer to the blob = slower; far away = full speed.
  • SpaceSplit. Your blob halves into two; the new half launches toward the cursor. Useful for a long-range eat or a panicked escape.
  • WEject mass. Spits a small pellet of your own mass out — feed a teammate or use it as a thrust burst.
Mobile
  • DragSame as moving the mouse — your blob heads toward your finger. Lift off to coast.
  • Tap splitThe on-screen Split button (bottom-right) replaces Space.
  • Tap ejectThe arrow button next to Split replaces W — spits a small chunk of mass.
Spectator
  • ← →Cycle through alive blobs by mass.
  • DragFree-pan the camera anywhere on the map.
  • ScrollZoom in/out.
  • WASDFly the camera with the keyboard.
  • FRe-lock onto the blob you were following.
The world

One map. Two threats.

The safe zone.

The big red ring. Inside is safe. Outside, your mass bleeds away every second — a few seconds is survivable, a minute outside is fatal even for a giant.

The zone shrinks faster as more players die, so the late game compresses everyone into a tiny arena where there's nowhere left to hide.

The black hole.

A small dark disc at the centre of the world. It pulls everything within range — pellets, ejected mass, blobs. Touch the core and you die instantly, regardless of mass.

Big blobs use it as a kill zone: shove a smaller player past the event horizon. Small blobs use the rim as a free pellet farm. Pick your moment.

Strategy

Tactics that actually work.

Your identity

A handle and a colour.

Anonymous by default.

You can play immediately — pick a 3-15 character handle and a colour, hit join. Your stats stack up against the device you're on.

Clear your browser storage and you start over.

Claim a handle to keep it.

Sign in with email magic-link, Google, or Discord and your handle becomes permanently yours. Your previous anonymous runs on this device are linked to the account.

Profile page lives at /u?h=YOURNAME — share it after a good win.

Frequently asked

Stuff people
want to know.

What time is the bloom in my timezone?
20:00 UTC is 22:00 in Brussels (CEST/summer) or 21:00 (CET/winter), 16:00 in New York (EDT) or 15:00 (EST), 13:00 in Los Angeles (PDT), 05:00 next day in Tokyo, 06:00 next day in Sydney. The countdown on the home page shows your local time until tonight's bloom.
What if I miss the start?
You can join any time during the queue (the few minutes before 20:00 UTC). Once the bloom is live you can spectate but not join until tomorrow.
Can I play with a friend?
Everyone plays in the same world. There's no team mode (yet) — but you can absolutely co-operate informally: feed each other mass, gang up on bigger blobs, share the win-streak chase.
How are streaks counted?
Your daily streak goes up every consecutive day you join a bloom. Miss one day and it resets. Your top-100 streak goes up when you finish in the top 100, but only resets on a sub-100 finish — missing a day doesn't break it.
Is there a way to practice?
Not yet. We may add a sandbox mode later, but the daily ritual is the core of the game — practice means showing up tomorrow.
How do you handle cheating?
The server is fully authoritative — your client only sends inputs and the server simulates everything. Speed-hacks, mass injection and ghosting all fail at the boundary. Suspect names can be banned by handle and IP-hash. Report issues to hello@bloom.game.
